Please accept my personal and sincere appreciation for your excellent support, and flexibility in standing up space here at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters and equipping them with all necessary equipment in support of the DEEPWATER HORIZON oil spill response. This is the largest pollution response in the history of the country and your efforts had a direct impact on the success of this response thus far. As the National Incident Commander, my team and I, experienced an extremely high operational tempo while subsequently experiencing a high demand for my time at various engagements throughout the Gulf Region. Through your relentless dedication and adaptability in an ever changing connectivity through this historic response. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to Unity of Effort.

I just wanted to go on the record for thanking Andrew Langley, and all of the NFC team, for the outstanding work they have been doing in regards to the NIC operation. Although NFC can always be counted up to get the job done “Right”, as well as “Right Now”, they have really gone above and beyond during the ever changing requirement mission of standing up the NIC. Working to address technical concerns for both SILC and C4IT operations, they have quickly accommodated all the needs that we have put upon them. Not only are their technical solutions extremely well thought and sound but implemented quickly as well. They have accomplished these goals while being short staffed through hard work of the dedicated staff, re-drections of manpower and by working extended hours, even working over the weekend to ensure that requirements were met Monday morning. Andy, although the mission is not completed, I thank you and your staff as we continue to fight ever changing requirements of the NIC Standup.
